Welcome to "New Beekeeping"

Robin Dartington has  kept bees for over 40 years, in both town and countryside.

To begin with he used conventional beehives and traditional methods for preventing swarming, but found these to be unsatisfactory.

In 1975 he designed and developed the first"Dartington Long Deep Hive" to explore a new system of beekeeping.  This aims to be: safer, more enjoyable and to minimize swarming.  This hive can be requeened annually without nucleus hives.

"New Beekeeping" iis a synthesis of old ideas and techniques developed by bee experts over the last 150 years.

Lectures and Demonstrations
Robin gives occasional talks on his system to associations and national conferences.
